James McAlroy is the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He was also a family friend of the Weavers.

History

Pastor McAlroy had been a close family friend of the Weavers. Mary Weaver and her children Benny, Caleb, and Lillian went to church every Sunday.

In the audio accompanying a journal page, he can be heard scolding Mary for bringing "the devil" to his doorstep. He warns that she must "cast out these changelings" in order to repent.

On the day the church mysteriously burned down, he went missing. His disappearance was confirmed on page 17 of the journal. Travis Burton documented his interview with Old Man Edwards and the man states that "Papa said a sinner gets a visit from the devil himself", implying that McAlroy had "sinned". Mr. Edwards says that he never saw James again after the fire.

In the Sunday Worship event, a scenario plays out involving the pastor. Standing at his podium in the church, the player takes his place as he seems to be giving a sermon to an empty audience. All of a sudden, the whole church is sent into chaos as a dark, shadowy figure appears. The pastor continues his sermon until the strange figure disappears. Afterwards, the church doors swing open and the twins Tim and Tom (in their No Way Out appearances) make their way down the aisle, slowly, but surely. Tom eventually teleports in front of McAlroy and seems to choke him to death.
